The Tesla CEO—one of the two richest people in the world—is putting up $100M to find climate change–fighting designs. Musk announced the contest in a tweet, promising to give the prize to whoever designed the “best” carbon-capture technology. Carbon capture removes the greenhouse gas from the air; it is then stored so as to not reenter the atmosphere. Earlier this month Musk solicited Twitter for ideas for where to donate part of his wealth. Details about the offer, he said, will be revealed in the next week.
