The economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has increased hunger and food insecurity in the United States. In Los Angeles County, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles has been donating meals amid an increased demand—and this month hit the milestone of 100,000 meals shared. Since the pandemic seriously hit Los Angeles in March 2020, the group has donated approximately $500,000 in food. Meals are distributed five days a week at three club sites across Los Angeles County. The organization partnered with the nonprofit Support + Feed, which provided some of the food for the program. The group celebrated the achievement with an event in Los Angeles on Feb. 10.
