In 1933 Franklin D. Roosevelt was President, a gallon of gas cost 10 cents, and Pageant of the Masters debuted in the heart of Laguna Beach. Eighty-one years later, getting one of the hottest tickets in town is far easier, there will be 53 performances throughout the summer. This year’s Pageant theme is “The Art Detective,” featuring seminal works from a diverse brand of artists such as Rembrandt, David Hockney and of course, Leonardo da Vinci, whose Last Supper traditionally closes the show every year. To bring the works to life, Pageant’s team is comprised of 500 volunteers, contributing more than 60,000 total hours. This year’s youngest cast member is four years old; the oldest is approaching 90. With 40 pieces slowly coming to life, one-by-one before your eyes, these iconic works of art feel larger than life and make the “IMAX Experience” seem quaint and old fashioned.  / July 6 – August 30, nightly at 8:30 pm foapom.com
