It should come as no surprise that Amgen, one of the largest employers in Southern California, has grown its annual Tour of California into one of the most important cycling races in the country. AEG has owned and operated the tour since creating the event in 2006. The eight-day, 710-mile race started in Sacramento and wound its way down the California Coast with stops in Monterey, Cambria, and Santa Barbara, culminating in Thousand Oaks, with Englishman Bradley Wiggins winning the event.
